Kanatha-Aki Nature Center
NEW :
The foraging season is officially underway in the Laurentians, and we are proud to announce a brand-new workshop: The Forager's Path!
You can now register for our forest walks: an introduction to the wild edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms of our region. Workshops are offered in either English or French.
The Forager's Path
Do you dream of wandering through the forest while tasting the wild abundance that surrounds you? Do you wish to learn how to craft your own remedies, just as our ancestors used to do?
Join us for an immersive day in the forest, where we will unlock the secrets of nature. This workshop serves as a practical introduction to the edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms of our local terroir. Together, we will re-learn ancestral methods and rediscover these precious plants growing all around us, so eager to be known once again.
Throughout the day, we will cover the essential rules of eco-responsible and respectful wild harvesting. You will learn how to identify species with absolute certainty so you never confuse them with their toxic look-alikes.
Depending on the day's harvest, a tasting of our forest finds will be prepared over a campfire, by the edge of a pond or inside a rustic shelter right in the heart of nature.
